Lyra Laser System
Laserscope's new Lyra™ Laser System has been cleared in the USA for a large variety of applications, including but not limited to dermatology, plastic surgery and general surgery.
In fact, the Lyra represents the most advanced approach to laser hair removal and vascular lesion treatment available today. It combines the longest available wavelength and the Company's unique Extended Duration Pulse (EDP) technology. This combination provides optimal results through deep penetration to impair hair growth or to treat unattractive lesions. With Lyra, physicians can now offer what patients are demanding: beautiful results.
There are several laser wavelengths offered for the removal of hair or leg telangiectasia, but only one wavelength can be safely and effectively used for both applications. The considerable absorption of oxyhemoglobin at 1064nm sets this wavelength apart from other lasers that are used strictly for the hair removal application. The remarkable depth of penetration of 1064nm due to its low scattering allows the treatment of deeply seated targets, such as blue and purple vessels, unapproachable with any other wavelength.
Only the Lyra laser system offers the ideal package for both applications. The Lyra combines the unique features of the 1064nm wavelength with proprietary EDP technology, where the pulses approximate the thermal relaxation time of vessels up to 4mm in diameter. The fluence, delivered in adjustable pulse widths for various size vessels, causes gentle intravascular cavitation and seals them.
To diminish patient discomfort, Lyra's active cooling module minimizes heat exposure into the surrounding tissue before, during, and after exposure. The integrated SmartScan Plus™ scanner is computer controlled, ensuring consistently safe and effective performance. Lyra's treatment speed of up to 1 sq. cm. per second (nine square inch area per minute) means more patients can be treated in the same timeframe.
Many laser hair removal systems can achieve positive results with patients who have dark hair and light skin tones. Lyra is designed to meet the needs of a varied patient population, providing the most benefit to darker complected individuals than any other wavelength.
